Apollo Brown is a Detroit-based hip-hop producer known for his soulful, cinematic approach to boom bap. His sound combines hard-hitting drums, dusty samples, deep basslines, and melancholic melodies, creating music that feels raw, warm, and deeply human. Like left-field beatmakers such as J Dilla and Madlib, Brown draws from a wide range of influences. His production can move from classic R&B and soul to unexpected sources such as the yacht rock of Seals & Crofts, bringing together sounds from across the musical spectrum to create beats that are as rich musically as they are rhythmic.
Throughout his career, Brown has built an extensive discography of instrumental and collaborative projects, working with artists including Guilty Simpson, Joell Ortiz, O.C., Skyzoo, Masta Ace, Freddie Gibbs, Ras Kass, Ghostface Killah, Planet Asia, Rapper Big Pooh, Locksmith, Che’ Noir, Stalley, Raheem DeVaughn, Philmore Greene, and many more. Everyone from Danny Brown to Chance The Rapper, Freddie Gibbs to Masta Ace, Black Milk to Westside Gunn, and Black Thought has spit bars over his beats.
Through Escapism Recordings, an independent venture focused on creative freedom and releasing music on his own terms, Brown continues to create and release music independently, exploring new ideas while staying true to the timeless sound that has defined his work.
